The American Cocker Spaniel is descended from the Cocker Spaniel used in England as a hunting dog. It is smaller than the English dog, and has become popular as both a family pet and a show dog, rather than for hunting. Its long coat is beautiful when groomed for show, while its happy personality makes it a wonderful companion.
